The Winznau dam near Olten was built in 1914-1917 and belongs to the Gösgen run-of-river power plant (KWG) of Alpiq Hydro Aare AG. It leads the Aare into the 4.8 km long upper water canal to the engine house in Niedergösgen. Within the scope of the new concession, refurbishment activities on the existing building (dam) as well as a new doping power plant with an installed capacity of approx. 1.2 MW are planned.
