Description

The city of Doberlug-Kirchhain is the owner of the station building and predominantly of the areas around the station and intends to upgrade and modernise the entire area. Funding from the Coal Regions Investment Act (Structural Strengthening of Lusatia) is envisaged for this purpose. Modernisation investments in the station building of around EUR 5.5 million and investment costs for the redesign of the station environment of around EUR 5.3 million are currently expected. The modernisation of the station building will be carried out gradually until 2029 on the basis of a feasibility study of the project. Planned uses of the building are a service station/tourism information of the city (relocation from the previous low-rise building to the main building) including bike rental on the ground floor, event and gastronomy offers and co-working in the 1st floor. First floor as well as guest and apprentice apartments for the regional companies in the 2nd floor. Upstairs. The redesign and expansion of the station environment is an essential part of the overall project. Due to the dismantling of the extensions of the station building and the new construction of the platform facilities of the DB with changed locations and access routes, there is a corresponding need for action. In addition, due to its function as a transport hub for bus transport, new demands arise in terms of the number of bus stops. The Park+Ride areas as well as wheel parking facilities have to be extended. The redesign of the station environment is to take place in the years 2028-30, depending on the construction process of the DB. In the years 2028-29, DB AG intends to renew the platform facilities and the adjacent intersection structure of the railway lines. In this context, the low-rise building (access building) and the corner building (stairway) used today are being dismantled. The station building thus regains its original historic cubature. The building was entered in the list of monuments of the district of Elbe-Elster in 2024. Text automatically translated in your browsing language Automatically translated
