Netherlands-Utrecht: Research and experimental development services
ProRail aims to stimulate the development of Automatic Train Operation (ATO) so that the benefits of ATO are more readily available. The way in which this can be done lies, in particular, in terms of facilitating testing in the next step in development. There are already experiments with different ATO levels abroad. ProRail wishes to carry out a test that would add value to the tests already carried out internationally and gain a direct understanding of what automated driving means in the Netherlands, both technically and functionally. ProRail plans to launch a pilot project in Groningen province in 2018. Through this market consultation, parties can indicate their interest in submitting a proposal (initiative) for this pilot. More information can be found in the attached market consultation document.
