The creation of hospital care services at home (NOSPI) concerns patients with complex health problems, (usually requiring support of one or more organs with the help of medical technology, due to their severity and clinical complexity), who are a separate group that requires health services at both hospital and community level, beyond those usually required for a chronic condition. The care of these patients should be provided in a specialized patient-centred approach in order to effectively manage their symptoms, meet their needs and acquire a relevant functionality in their daily lives with the aim of improving their quality of life. In our country, the majority of these cases are treated for prolonged and repetitive time (frequent admissions and re-imports) at hospital level, which causes significant effects on their health, the well-being of families and the healthcare system.
