Quantity contract Video laryngoscopes and consumables
Video laryngoscopy has been established in anesthesiology and intensive care medicine for years to ensure the expected but also the unexpectedly difficult airway. Guidelines and specialist societies are now also calling for use in elective operations, e.g. in the context of ‘lightning initiations’ / rapid sequence induction (RSI), ileus initiations and also in the intubation of infants. The success rate of airway protection is proven to be higher compared to conventional laryngoscopy, which is why more and more healthcare institutions are making any airway protection with this technology. There are numerous systems on the market, disposable and reusable systems, some of which differ significantly in spatula configuration. The latter not only technically, in the sense of electronic components which are, for example, directly installed in a disposable spatula, but also with regard to the spatula configuration. Since video laryngoscopy is currently undergoing a significant transformation process, it would not be expedient to define a specific spatula configuration and a reusable system with multiple spatulas to be used and high investment costs. The latter systems are more complex in terms of handling and technology and thus possibly also more susceptible to failure, as it is often necessary to establish an electrical connection between the spatula and the visualization system. The aim is to achieve a high level of availability and reliability in terms of patient safety alone, which would require the procurement of high volumes of circulation, especially in the case of the central machine treatment required in cleaning and disinfection devices of the processing unit for medical devices. Furthermore, compared to the selected system, there are far less spatula configurations available for intubation in reusable systems.
