United Kingdom-Cambridge: Building-cleaning services
The University of Cambridge has a number of buildings across Cambridge.
The aim of the contract is to achieve a consistent approach to cleaning in order to address the different cleaning standards in each of the buildings. The University appreciate that differences may be due to insufficient funding rather than poor contractor performance. However, due to budgetary constraints there may not be additional funding available to simply fund additional cleaning hours in order to raise standards. We are therefore looking to engage innovative cleaning contractors who will work with the University to identify efficiencies which can be used to improve standards without necessarily increasing our cost. One area this may be achieved is to standardise the consumables used (and dispensing equipment where applicable) in each of the buildings to achieve better economies of scale.
The contracts offered as part of this tender are critical in the delivery of this centralised approach. The service requirements have been packaged in 3 lots based upon their geographical location.
The contract for each lot will operate under a single contract for that lot. Within each lot not all buildings/parts of buildings will require cleaning services at contract commencement. Buildings/part of buildings may only be phased in at different points. Any building/part of building added after contract commencement (as a variation) will form part the relevant Lot and will be priced on the same basis in accordance with the tender. Tenderers should therefore allow for expansion of the contract and be able to demonstrate that they have the appropriate experience and resource to accommodate this. Please note that whilst it is the intention of the University to add additional buildings/parts of buildings to the contract, this cannot be guaranteed and the University will not be under any obligation to add further work into the contract.
The buildings to be cleaned or offered for cleaning as current contracts expire are all within the 3 areas known as:
1. Lot 1: The West Cambridge Sites — 1.12.2015 to 30.11.2017 with an option to renew for further periods up to 30.11.2020,
2. Lot 2: The Old Press/Mill Lane Site — 1.12.2015 to 30.11.2017 with an option to renew for further periods up to 30.11.2020,
3. Lot 3: The City Centre Sites — 1.12.2015 to 30.11.2017 with an option to renew for further periods up to 30.11.2020.
