France-Bagnols-sur-Cèze: Works for complete or part construction and civil engineering work
The SVM installation is located within the INBS perimeter of the Marcoule vitrification workshop (VAM). The SVM installation consists of 5 semi-buried storage pits and a metal frame hall covering all these pits. These pits allow storage of glass containers (CVs) and technological waste containers (CDTs) produced by VAM. The containers stored in this facility will subsequently be removed to an ANDRA storage site.
The SVM installation has two P5 and P6 wells, the main functions of which are:
— make it possible to collect the groundwater drained around the SVM pits (the P6 well for those around pits 4 and 5; the P5 well for those around the pits 1 to 3),
— ensure, by means of pumps, the collection of the water received in the P6 well and then transferred to the P5 well, and the water received in the P5 well and then transferred to the outlets according to their possible contamination level.
VAM is operated by AREVA on behalf of the CEA.
Wells P5 and P6 do not currently meet the new earthquake criteria defined on major post-earthquake equipment. The services will consist of strengthening and replacing the current VCS wells so as to ensure their post-earthquake integrity and operationality.
To this end, it is envisaged to strengthen the P6 well, and to build a new P5 well slightly shifted from the VAM building, but which will remain connected to the lower part of the existing P5 well. The low parts of the existing 2 wells, with their connections to the various drains, will be kept.
