Description

The object of the procurement is to carry out planning tasks for the renovation of Helsinki City Hall and yards. Helsinki City Hall is located at Pohjoisesplanadi 11-13. The design tasks include architectural and main design tasks, as well as the following design resources to be designated during the procurement procedure: structural and building physical design, geo-design, HVAC design and electrical design. Helsinki City Hall was originally built as a hotel (Seurahuone) in 1833. In the 19th century, the building underwent a number of changes as the requirements for operations grew. The City Hall was modernised and renovated according to the plans of Architect Aarno Ruusuvuori in 1965-1970, so that all internal structures and parts were rebuilt as concrete. Only the facades and the ballroom still date back to the 19th century. In 1985-1988, the City Hall was expanded to an inner courtyard with a council building designed by Aarno Ruusuvuori. Since then, the City Hall has undergone a number of technical improvements and operational changes in the 1990s and 2000s. The detailed content of the contract is described in the preliminary tender documents attached to the contract notice.
