Saarbahn Netz GmbH (SBN) in the group of companies with Stadtwerke Saarbrücken operates an operating workshop at the Saarbrücker Str. 23 site in 66130 Saarbrücken for the maintenance of currently 26 Bombardier Flexcity Link S1000 two-system city railcars. Currently, the replacement procurement for 28 vehicles is underway. The contract was awarded to Stadler in a consortium. The vehicles are used on Deutsche Bahn's own infrastructure (NE-Bahn) and lines on the basis of the Ordinance on the Construction and Operation of Trams (BOStrab) and the provisions of the Railway Construction and Operation Regulations (EBO). Currently, a mobile wheelset processing machine (Hegenscheidt Mobiturn) is already being used to maintain the vehicles. The machine built in 2002 can only be maintained with increased effort and no longer meets the current requirements for modern wheel set machining.
