Description

The MSHIP Program is an initiative by TransnetBW aimed at supporting Germany's energy transition by developing a sustainable, scalable, and efficient grid management system. It focuses on modularity, automation, and simplicity to enhance operational security and reduce costs. The architecture is based on a self-hosted, cloud-native platform specifically designed for secure and data-driven operations. The MSHIP - Power Flow (PF) project actually covers several operational functionalities, first of all Power Flow calculation considering stable, quasi-stationary system states determined by specified injections and loads at the busses, specified target values of local controllers (e.g., voltage regulation by tap-change transformers), and a specified network model (equipment, its parameters, and its topological interconnection), further on Contingency Analysis performing repeated application of power flow calculation to a variety of contingency system states (e.g., line outage, generator outage), an optimizing mode where the power flow calculation is extended to adjust pre-specified operational control variables towards the minimization/maximization of a user-selected objective function while maintaining physical and operational constraints thus arriving at an Optimal Power Flow solution, and finally a Network Reduction routine that can be run prior to the power flow calculation itself allowing the approximate consideration of external grid areas in the subsequent operational planning for remaining internal grid areas. Please note that also responses are invited and will be considered that do not cover all listed functionalities of the PF project.
