D-Darmstadt: Cold-storage installations
The FAIR project (Facility for Antiproton and Ion Research) aims at the GSI site in Darmstadt
a state-of-the-art particle accelerator and experimentation facility for basic research; and
applied research carried out. This Annex will be developed in international co-operation with the current 16
Partner states in Darmstadt (Land Hessen) are funded and built.
The task of implementing the plant was delegated to the FAIR-GmbH, which was founded in 2010. The GSI carries out tasks defined in the framework of agreements concluded with the FAIR-GmbH for the procurement of FAIR plant systems.
In the context of this call for tenders, the Helmholtz Centre for Heavyness Research GSI is carrying out the assigned administrative and technical tasks for the systems described here.
The FAIR project will include a series test facility (STF) to test superconducting
SIS100 Dipol magnets installed at GSI. For cryogenic supply, a helium cryo-system with a rated power of 1500 W at 4.4 K is required to operate 4 test probes. This will be produced and delivered together with the necessary cryo-infrastructure (transfer pipelines, feed boxes and distribution box).
