Supply of desalinated sand
The scope of this trajectory includes the supply of desalinated sand for sand bed, during pipeline work for the filling of trenches where polluted or poorly compacted soil comes out. The choice for the type of sand (circular or desalinated) is made per project by Stichting Watermaatschappij Amsterdam and lies with the project leader. The starting point is that, where possible, circular sand is first applied, provided that this is technically suitable and available. This is currently first collected from the Ground Bank of Amsterdam (if available). Circular sand may be less compactible in some cases. For this reason, each project assesses which type of sand meets the required technical specifications, including the required degree of compaction. If circular sand is not suitable or not available, desalinated sand shall be applied.
