Description

The municipality of Zoetermeer wants to draw up a Species Management Plan (SMP) as part of the sustainability task of the built environment. An SMP offers an area-based approach to protecting building-dwelling species in spatial developments, renovations and sustainability measures. With this Descriptive document, interested parties are given the opportunity to submit a Tender for carrying out an ecological survey of building-dwelling birds and bats within the defined research area of the municipality of Zoetermeer and in accordance with the attached guidelines. This research ultimately forms the basis for the species management plan to be drawn up. Of which Arcadis provided the reporting and application authorisation. The study consists of two main phases: 1. Phase 1: Exploratory research (area-covering quick scan) with the aim of: o Identification of potentially present bat species and birds, important structures, habitats and potential coherence o Identification of promising structures for bats within the research area o Substantiating the presence or absence of certain species and functions on ecological grounds o Classification of the research area into logical sub-areas for field research 2. Phase 2: Basic research consisting of the products, methodologies and guidelines named in the program of requirements. The basic study provides all the necessary data from the ecological study for the purposes of the SMP to be drawn up. The research area covers the urban area of the municipality of Zoetermeer, with the exception of: • The outlying area on the northwest side, due to the disproportionate research effort in relation to the number of dwellings/buildings; • The district of Oosterheem, because of construction years after 2002 with already sufficient insulation values.
