This contract is a works contract within the meaning of Article 2, 18° of the Public Procurement Act and concerns the restoration of docks 1 to 4, the doors of dock 6 and underground pipes at the Droogdokkensite in Antwerp. The dry docks are protected because of their historical and industrial-archaeological value. At the end of 2022, a grant (‘Relance resources’) was awarded for the restoration of already 4 of the 9 docks. In order to ensure the future operation of dry dock 4, the underground pipe network between dock 4 and the main pipe to pump house 2 will be restored where necessary – after cleaning and inspection. The remaining parts of this underground pipe network and valves are kept in situ according to their current condition. Because the integral cleaning and restoration of these underground pipes is a particularly expensive task and to ensure safety above ground, these pipes are filled with a light-cement-bound filler.
