The Fehmarn Belt Fixed Link (FBQ) will be built as a combined road and rail link. According to the State Treaty with the Kingdom of Denmark, the Federal Republic of Germany is responsible for the expansion of the German rail hinterland connection. As a result, the extension and new construction of the DB line 1100 will take place over a length of about 90 km with two electrified tracks. The speed is increased to 160 km/h, in some areas also to 200 km/h. The project is divided into ten planning approval phases, commissioning is to be achieved by 2029.
