Scottish Enterprise (SE) in partnership with Fife Council is undertaking a major redevelopment at the former Kvaerner Yard in Methil, Fife. The ambition is to create the Energy Park Fife, a new strategic industrial facility capable of securing emerging opportunities in the traditional and renewable energy sector. SE is in discussions with a number of developers and potential occupiers regarding proposals for new development. Around 56 Ha of reclaimed, serviced land will be made available with direct access to Firth of Forth.
Re-construction works for Quayside 1 has been approached in two phases. Phase 1 and 2 of Quay 1 are now complete. Re-development of adjacent Quayside 2 is about to be procured and the value of this work is estimated to be GBP3M-GBP4M.
A Contractor is now required to implement a design and construction contract for Quayside 2. This quay is being used by an existing occupier on the site and a staged approach may need to be adopted. The contract might need to reflect this.
To be considered, contractors will be required to demonstrate relevant experience and detailed working knowledge of comparable contracts. The New Engineering Contract has been used extensively for this project. Management experience of this should be highlighted.
It is also envisaged that accreditation (e.g. ISO 9001 & ISO 14001) will be very relevant. Health and safety is obviously a critical consideration generally, and specific knowledge and experience of safety in relation to marine environments is sought.
SE will take forward a maximum of six suppliers to tender stage.
