Description

I. Project The purchase of an irradiation device for blood products for the Department of Transfusion Medicine including maintenance for the purpose of irradiation of cellular products (erythrocyte concentrates (EK), platelet concentrates (TK), other blood products) to prevent transfusion-associated graft-versus-host disease (GvHD) is envisaged. The acquisition has not yet been made and will not take place until this ex-ante transparency notice has been issued without complaint. II. Facts The LMU Klinikum provides, among other things, patients with immunodeficiency or limited immunity who, according to the statements of the Hemotherapy Directive (Directive on the collection of blood and blood components and the use of blood products, Total Amendment 2023) or the Cross-sectional Guideline on the therapy with blood components and plasma derivatives (Total Amendment 2020), are indicated to be supplied with at least 25Gy irradiated cellular blood products. To this end, blood products are irradiated within the framework of an existing manufacturing authorisation and an existing authorisation for the professional and appropriate care of patients in accordance with guidelines and guidelines. III. Due to stricter safety requirements of the authorities (SEWD Directive), the procurement and installation of an irradiation device on the basis of on/off X-ray radiation is planned. At the same time, the existing irradiation device, whose function is based on a hot source (Cs 137), must be disposed of professionally and appropriately. Overall, the space conditions (available footprint for the device: WxD = 105cmx115cm ) limited for installation of irradiation equipment. The planned, primary installation location as well as the location where the current device is operated (final, later installation location) do not have a water connection and do not have a 400V power connection for a possibly necessary water cooling of the device as well as for the power supply. Due to the pollution of the building, structural measures are associated with a previous, lengthy and costly pollutant remediation. Furthermore, due to the narrow space conditions mentioned above, the device must be movable and can be moved as easily as possible at a later date (weight, storage on rollers). At the same time, the irradiation device must enable simultaneous irradiation of different products (EC, at 4°C +/- 2°C) and TKs (20°C - 24°C).
