Description

The purpose of this contract is to identify the capacity of the Rhône river to meet all current and future uses, while ensuring the functionality of the aquatic environment. This overall objective requires the achievement of the following intermediate objectives:
— identification of current and future samples taken from the river and aquifers directly linked to the Rhône,
— description of the Rhône hydrology at stretching: study of chronic flow rates, marker stretches, determination of characteristic flow rates,
— definition of flow/temperature conditions limiting priority uses on the river,
— identification of the impact of the objective water flow rates (DOE) and the crisis flow rates (DCR) at the various nodal points,
— construction of a simplified hydrological model and testing of prospective hydrological scenarios. This contract is divided into 6 chronological phases explained in the CCTP.
Stage 1: characterise the territory of the Rhône river and collect additional data:
— Mission 1: apprehend the Rhône river,
— Mission 2: draw up a survey of spatial and temporal abstraction of surface water and groundwater associated with the river.
Stage 2: quantify the impact of levies on the resource, replenish flows not influenced by the sampling:
— Mission 1: Characterisation of the stretching,
— Mission 2: Restoration of uninfluenced hydrology.
Stage 3: determine the limit conditions (flow and temperature) for specific uses: drinking water supply, operation of nuclear power plants and power generation.
Stage 4: determine the flow limit conditions for species.
Stage 5: determine the objective flow values.
Stage 6: define forward-looking hydrological scenarios at stretching and test the sensitivity of the water flow rates of the Rhône river (modelling).
