Description

The railway lines in the Eifel, which were severely damaged during the flood in 2021, will be modernised and electrified as part of the reconstruction. The power supply is provided by a newly developed 25 kV island network, which is connected to existing traction power lines via mains couplings. A mains coupling is planned at Fischenich and is connected to the DB Energie grid via the BL 563 Cologne-Sindorf traction power line. The construction of this mains coupling takes place near the railway line 2360 Cologne-Bingen at the end of section 91-92 of the BL 563. At this point, both circuits are fed into the mains coupling via a new cross-traverse mast (91a and 91b) and back to the line road.
