Description

The aim of the restoration of Katakomb and the Moorish Waterworks is the restoration of monuments - a return to the original, historical solution. Catacombs are currently in a state of disrepair, leaking into the building, ventilation is not functional, the space is degraded not only from water, but is extensively covered with mosses and algae. Within the framework of building modifications Katakomb will be carried out especially the remediation of sources of excessive moisture, complete restoration of the terrace surface, restoration of plasters and floors, restoration and completion of filling holes and repairs of drainage and ventilation tunnels and canals. Furthermore, the documentation includes minor layout changes related to the establishment of a toilet in the area under the Palm greenhouse. On the terrace and in Katakomby under the terrace there is a large number of stone, stucco and metal elements that will be subject to craft repairs, conservation and restoration. These are mainly staircase steps, stone railings, cast-iron railings, stone cornice, plinth cladding, western portal inside Katakomb, fountain with Rebekah and Lion fountain, sculptural decoration (the statue of a wolf and a lion), lining of some door openings and drains in the Katakomb floor. As part of the construction works of the Moorish Waterworks, the exterior of the Moorish Waterworks will be restored, including external fillings of openings, roof and roof truss, access to the gallery above the Dyje River.
