Description

DTU needs to purchase an imager that monitors crystal growth in plastic trays over time. The equipment must have is an advanced imaging system for crystal detection, and be designed to maximize efficiency in crystallographic research. The system must be a so-called crystal hotel that must be able to handle up to 800 crystal trays simultaneously Each crystal tray must be able to contain up to 96 attempts per tray, The equipment must be able to use several simultaneous imaging methods. 1. A traditional microscopic lighting with white light. 2. A more sophisticated technology called SONICC (Second-Order Nonlinear Imaging of Chiral Crystals). SONICC technology is a particularly powerful technique that uses a femtosecond pulsed laser to harness frequency doubling effects in protein crystals. It produces high resolution images with minimal background interference through two specific imaging channels: The Second Harmonic Generation (SHG) channel, which investigates crystallinity, as well as the Ultraviolet Two-Photon Excited Fluorescence (UV-TPEF) channel, which specialises in protein-containing samples. The precision of the system is expected to be so high that it can detect microscopic crystals smaller than 1 micrometer and accurately distinguish microcrystals from amorphous aggregates. The system shall have a fully automated imaging system that enables rapid imaging of high capacity crystallisation plates with instant identification of protein crystals. Users of the system must include an online tracking option that allows researchers worldwide to follow their experiments in real time, regardless of their physical location.
