Description

The engineering, supply, installation, start-up and maintenance of a plant for the production of biochar based on pyrolysis technology with integrated dryer that turns dehydrated sludge (20 ā€“ 30% dry matter) into biochar. The supplier of the installation is responsible for the end-to-end solution that must be energy neutral. On the current Menen site, 5,000 tonnes of sludge are generated annually. The sludge transport and processing are expensive and, in addition, little or no energy or raw material recovery is done. Aquafin wants to build a pyrolysis plant with integrated dryer on this site, which is energy neutral and will valorize the obtained end product, namely biochar and heat. The valorisation of heat can be done via a local heat network. The valorisation of biochar could be done through construction and/or as activated carbon.
