UK-Edinburgh: Telecommunications services
SAC seek to appoint a supplier to provide a regional office Wide Area Network (WAN) as a platform to support our client / server model using terminal services. SAC are also running a project to provide a SAC wide IPT system and the WAN solution will need to support this development.
The current SAC regional office Wide Area Network (WAN) is a managed service with a mix of fixed MPLS circuits, ADSL 2+ and ADSL MAX connection's. This solution has provided challenges for SAC due to the unpredictability of ADSL connections and variability of the bandwidth available through ADSL.
SAC strategy for the development of the regional office WAN will be to tier the offices and provide WAN services to the sites based on their tier.
Tier 1 Main Campus,
Tier 2 Regional Hub office,
Tier 3 Regional office,
Tier 4 Small Regional office and Farm.
The solution will provide SAC with a private network with site to site connectivity and the connections to the SAC core network will be resilient through the SAC Edinburgh Bush Estate and Edinburgh Kings Buildings sites. SAC will consider splitting the service over multiple suppliers if this offers an advantage to SAC in terms of resilience and performance.
