Description

The Catex des Lacs was installed in the early 1980s. It includes a start station with an explosion engine assembly, a non-rechargeable battery on site and an arm of force to regulate the speed of the cable. The cable with a length of about 2 km is supported by 5 pylons equipped with adjustable deflection pulleys and beam guides to ensure the passage of the clamps supporting the explosive intended for preventive fire avalanches. A dozen shooting points are possible with this device. In its current configuration it is operated by artificial trackers who master this very old mechanics with great care. Indeed the gasoline engine and its exhaust are close to the fireworks and constitute a fire risk, the pulleys of motor station are very close to the operators, as well as the cable, resulting in a proven risk of grabbing. Security is therefore at stake in this configuration of another era. The line of pylons and pulleys is almost original, some parts replacements in recent years have allowed the device to work to this day. These materials are difficult to adjust and maintain. Existing equipment, at the power station and online are therefore obsolete and must be replaced, the original cable must also be replaced. On the other hand 2 additional firing points must be treated near the current P4 by an extension of the catex
