Description

The construction project is a refurbishment of the listed Nikolaikirche in Anklam. The city of Anklam intends to reuse, restructure and repair the Nikolaikirche Anklam. The aim of the project is to provide the church building with a permanent use as a Lilienthal Flight Museum (LFM) in parallel with the restoration of the urban version of the central market square and to re-establish the tower helmet at its original height of about 103 m in accordance with its architectural form. The masonry of the Nikolaikirche Anklam is characterized by a variety of different harmful images, which overlap in varying degrees of expression and distribution. In many areas, there are greater degrees of damage to the wall surfaces, which affects the interior and the facade. In the interior, it should be noted that historical findings are available, which can be classified as very valuable from a conservation point of view. The comparatively high degree of damage to the architectural surfaces is mainly due to the destruction of the building during the war and the long subsequent service life in ruinous condition. From the results of the investigation in connection with the examination of the harmful images, it can be seen that easily soluble salts, gypsum and increased moisture content together with building climatic conditions are effective as harmful factors. Basically, the now visible existence of the wall surfaces in its aged appearance is to be preserved and stabilized. New materials used should be integrated into the existing stock without interference. For the interior, a preservation of the existing appearance with visibility of all findings and traces of aging is preferred. Reconstructive interventions are not provided. The implementation of the demand for the preservation of the historical substance is implemented according to its value with technologically differentiated methods of conservation. The highest demands are placed on substance preservation in the areas with findings of figurative painting and polychrome frames on the upper areas in the interior. In general, the preservation of the historical frame and surface findings on the further surfaces in the interior is sought. If necessary, fuses are made on mechanically endangered areas and lots. This concerns material cracks of different dimensions and severe material losses at joints and at the base of the wall.
