Description

For the supply of thermal energy, Energie und Wasser Potsdam (EWP) GmbH is building further geothermal power plants in the state capital Potsdam. In doing so, geothermal energy is to be sought at two sites and its economic extraction by hydrothermal borehole duplicates is to be proven. Several deep boreholes, some of which are highly diverted, are to be graded and tested at the two HKW Süd and Gartenstraße sites (up to 6 boreholes at the HKW Süd site; up to 2 holes at the Gartenstraße site). In the event of positive exploration, drilling will continue to be used and prepared for later mining operations. Deep drilling activities are planned to commence in Q1/2026 (preparatory actions until Q4/2025).
