Description

In the Tyks Laboratories service area of the Southwest Finland Welfare Area, there is a need to procure water slide microtoms and their maintenance. A water slide microtomy is essential for cutting small and medium-sized FFPE tissue samples and making microscopic clips of pathological samples. With the increase in the number of samples in the Southwest Finland Welfare Area, there is a need to purchase motorised rotational microtomic devices with a water slide, automatic cutting controls and a cooling sample holder. A water slide is an accessory attached to a rotational microtomy that speeds up the cutting of small and medium-sized FFPE tissue samples considerably. The water slide includes a slide, a water tray and a cutter. The automatic cutting controls are the part of the microtom from which the controls of the device are controlled. The coldening sample holder, on the other hand, is an add-on that keeps the paraffin block cold for successful cutting. The coldening sample holder allows the paraffin block to remain cold to make a 3 ?m clip. According to Section 40(2)(2) of the Act on Public Procurement and Concessions (1397/2016), a contracting entity may choose direct procurement if, for technical reasons or reasons related to the protection of exclusive rights, only a particular supplier can carry out the procurement; an additional condition is that there are no reasonable alternatives or substitutes and that the absence of competition is not the result of an artificial narrowing down of the terms of the contract. According to the contracting entity's study, there are no other suitable rotational microtoms suitable for cutting small and medium-sized FFPE tissue samples on the market, equipped with a water slide, automatic cutting controls and a cooling sample holder that provides a 3 ?m clip like Mediq Suomi Oy's aqueous slide microtom Microm HM-355S.
