United Kingdom-Elgin: Refuse and waste related services
The Moray Council provides a kerbside collection of mixed green and food waste (biowaste) from all households in Moray (44 000 approx). In addition we provide facilities for depositing garden only waste for members of the public and commercial customers at our five manned recycling centres.
Both these waste streams are deposited and handled separately at Moycroft Waste Transfer Station, our in house facility. Mixed green and food waste is deposited in the designated bay within the transfer building, loaded and transported as received. However garden waste is deposited in a separate area within the site for shredding prior to transfer.
This is transported using our in house fleet to the facility currently contracted for the treatment of these two distinct material streams. The current average Biowaste circa 13 000 tonnes.
