Description

RWTH Aachen University Hospital is planning the construction of an interdisciplinary research building. The "Center for the Study of Phase Transitions of Chronic Diseases" (ZPCE) has a gross floor area of approximately 8,600 m2 and is to be built on Cluster Building B in the Campus Melaten university expansion area. The basic concept for the research of phase transitions of chronic diseases is the close cooperation between medical and non-medical specialists from various disciplines. In this project, the spectrum ranges from clinical scientists, medical scientists, computer scientists and engineers to mathematicians and scientists. The ZPCE is intended to be such an interdisciplinary center for innovative research, in which the common foundations of different model diseases can be considered from the point of view of the various disciplines. In this building, the reversible or irreversible phase transitions from stable to unstable disease phases of chronic diseases are to be investigated. In order to achieve this objective, an application for funding was submitted pursuant to Article 91b(1), first sentence, point 3, of the Basic Law. The building will contain around 4000 m2 of usable space (UF), 40% of which consists of (wet/special) laboratory space and 60% office space including offices for computational science and bioinformatics. The building is designed for 206 employees plus students and HiWis. The project is to be fully implemented as a BIM project, the performance figures have been adapted accordingly. In addition to classic wet research, numerous Collaborative Research Centres are housed in the building. These include electron microscopy, next generation genomics, proteomics, imaging, flow cytometry and cell sorting. As part of computational science and bioinformatics, a corresponding modern IT infrastructure will be installed. Text automatically translated in your browsing language Automatically translated
