Description

MPC Terbank vzw offers various forms of support for children, young people and young adults with mild or moderate intellectual disabilities, often combined with behavioral and emotional disorders. Through a multidisciplinary approach and a flexible approach, we offer tailor-made support, in close cooperation with the young person and/or his or her immediate environment or bodies such as the juvenile court. In recent years, Terbank has evolved considerably. Where in the past almost exclusively residential work was done, almost half of the young people are now accompanied non-residentially. Nevertheless, there is still a high demand for residential care for a more complex target group. Our group of residential clients requires a targeted, modern and sustainable living environment, adapted to the care needs of young people with intellectual disabilities, behavioural disorders and additional care needs. Until now, no specific infrastructure has been developed by Terbank for non-residential clients, i.e. children and young people who use itinerant or mobile support (daycare, day care, accommodation, holiday care, crisis care, etc.). The non-residential offer was developed within the existing buildings, largely on this site, with limited adaptation works. Today, however, we find that a further expansion is not possible without far-reaching and expensive adjustments. Our new care campus must offer space for the residential and non-residential operation, so that Terbank can continue to grow, continue to offer a strong and diverse residential program in a pleasant and adapted living environment and can better answer the many other care questions. Our campus must be designed in function of the flexibility and creativity in the trajectories of the young people and be sustainably integrated into the environment.
