Description

The new footbridge and cycle path bridge over the Iller takes up the original position of the existing bridge as a logical continuation of the Jahnweg. With the clear width of 6.30 meters, a generous and comprehensible connection is created.The Illersteg is designed as a slender wood-steel hybrid construction. The main structure forms a hollow steel box, which spans over two fields as a continuous beam. The field lengths are 31.0 m and 44.50 m. At the end bearings, the hollow steel box is rigidly connected to the abutments. Already at the time of lifting, the steel coupling elements are rigidly connected to the concrete backbones. The joining/welding of the bridge on the mounting joints is only carried out after the superstructure's own weight has been applied. This ensures a good construction process and makes use of the advantages of integral clamping from a static and structural point of view. The concept envisages a repairable design with a strong backbone made of a hollow steel box as the primary load-bearing member. Segments of wood, concrete and steel are placed on it. These modules have a very high degree of prefabrication and can be manufactured as packages, installed and removed or replaced in the event of damage. A single package has the dimensions of 3.40 m x 7.00 m and includes three full wooden cranes as well as two divided ones, which are located at the joints.
