Description

Als Mittelzentrum und größte Stadt im Rhein-Pfalz-Kreis ist die Infrastruktur Schifferstadts von maßgeblicher Bedeutung. Ein großer Bestandteil davon bilden die gute Verkehrsanbindung und die Symbolik als "Tor zur Stadt". Der Bahnhof Schifferstadts stellt einen wichtigen Verkehrsknotenpunkt von regionaler Bedeutung dar. Er verbindet als Umsteigepunkt die West-Ost Schienenverbindung Mannheim/Ludwigshafen nach Kaiserslautern/Saarbrücken mit der südlichen Schienenverbindung in Richtung Speyer. Die letzte Modernisierung des Bahnhofsvorplatzes fand 1960 statt, weshalb die Stadt beabsichtigt das Gelände umzugestalten.
