Description

The very difficult distribution of aid during the Ebola crisis has shown that there are major obstacles to customs and logistics in West Africa. For the Netherlands, this situation has led to help improve the functioning of customs and logistics in the West Africa region. The aim is to make the region more resilient to such and other (natural) disasters and crises
In addition to a humanitarian disaster, the Ebola epidemic is also a major economic disaster for the affected countries and the region. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs will therefore also focus on the economic recovery of the region. An efficient customs and logistics sector is essential for this economic recovery.
The Netherlands has a lot of expertise in the field of customs and logistics. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs intends to use this expertise to, inter alia, speed up the economic recovery of the affected countries.
