Description

The aim of the upcoming project is to determine the availability of energy storage plants including inverters for use in the traction power grid on the market. The energy storage with an output of 40 MW and a capacity of 40 MWh is to work as a grid-compatible storage in the 110 kV 16.7 or 50 Hz network (see the following 4 variants). The output of 40 MW must be distributed to at least two units with storage and inverter due to redundancy (variants 3 and 4). A total lifespan of 30 years is to be made possible. The memory can be exchanged after half the time if necessary. The storage system must enable highly dynamically up to 5,000 partial charging cycles per year with an energy quantity of up to 30 GWh in order to compensate for load fluctuations caused by trains in the traction power grid. The energy is to be shifted within 15-minute intervals in order to consolidate the power supply in the traction power grid.
