Description

The Environment Agency (EA) anticipates a requirement for approximately 300-400 units of body armour and ancillary equipment to provide personal protection for male and female Enforcement Officers over the next 4 years. Body armour must be manufactured to HOSDB HG1a/KR2/SP2 or equivalent standard. Ancillary equipment comprises of Tactical Vests and a suitable range of wicking undergarments for under the main armour. Suppliers must provide an individual size and fitting service for each unit of body armour to be undertaken at EA premises throughout England and Wales and the ability to offer sustainable disposal options at the end of equipment life. Condition: Contractors must have the resources to provide a personalised on site measuring and fitting service covering England and Wales to be undertaken at EA offices. Where there is a requirement for more than four units at any one time, the Environment Agency will specify the location of measuring, fitting and supply. For purchases of less than four units at any one time, measuring, fitting and supply will be undertaken at a location specified by the supplier. Justification: It is essential for the safety and comfort of the wearer that the body armour fits correctly and must be individually fitted to ensure this. Male and female fit armour must be available, unisex fitting will not be acceptable. Condition: The body armour must be manufactured to HOSDB HG1a/KR2/SP2 or equivalent standard. Justification: The high level of specification is required to ensure the maximum level of protection currently available against ballistic, spike or blade injury for the wearer.
