The Rendsburg district port is an important hub of the region. Due to its location on the Kiel Canal, on the A7 and A210 motorways and the good connection to the rail network, it is the region's main supplier of building materials, agricultural products and energy. In order to maintain and expand its infrastructural importance, further modern transhipment capacities are needed in the port.
