The Multilingual authority table is a controlled vocabulary that lists concepts associated with cataloguing purposes.
Its main scope is to support activities associated with publication process.
The concepts included are correlated with the need of the identification of different multilingual language combinations.
The EU publications use two-character codes, the first two positions of the three-character authority code. The codes are alphanumeric in order to not confuse with ISO language codes that are strictly alphabetic.
The Multilingual authority table is updated based on the stakeholders’ needs.
Contributions to it are accepted following a review made by EU Vocabularies team of the Publications Office of the EU.
The Multilingual authority table is maintained by the Publications Office of the European Union on the EU Vocabularies website.
