Improving crisis prevention and management criteria and strategies in the agricultural sector
Final report
Publication metadata
There is a need for a better understanding of crisis situations, the effect of these crises on agricultural holdings, how to avoid them and how to deal with them in particular in situations, going beyond the regular mechanisms for risk management. Therefore, the overall objective of this pilot study is as follows: to provide a comprehensive analysis and a critical review of all aspects related to
crisis situations, its impact and practices, in order to better focus and improve the effectiveness of CAP policy and better contribute to the European Union’s priorities. Furthermore, the study distinguishes two aspects: crisis prevention and crisis management. This report outlines our analysis on crisis and crisis management in agriculture. We discuss the nature of recent crisis and the measures and instruments used taken to cope with a crisis. To support the analysis, these themes are addressed: 1. What is a “crisis situation”? 2. What are the needs/expectations of different actors in supply chains? 3. How are the needs of different supply chain actors addressed? 4. How are needs covered?
