This is the final report of the project entitled “Study on the technical progress of Conformity of Production for replacement silencing system as a separate technical unit”, related to the current Conformity of Production (CoP) requirements and checking procedures for replacement silencing systems of M1 and N1 vehicles and their effectiveness in the EU. The main objective of the study was to evaluate the current status and technical progress of EU regulatory requirements of CoP for replacement silencing systems, by investigating the technical and financial feasibility of CoP checking... procedures and by identifying whether proposing changes to the CοP requirements can lead to the achievement of improved sound emissions performance (due to higher percentage of production conformance to the type-approval sound limits). The study included a feedback gathering procedure in order to take into account the opinion of the industry and national authorities, a vehicle test and a cost-benefit analysis.
