The Guidance on the Drinking Water Directive – Volume IV: contents of notification of intention is to be used in support of preparing the submission of a notification of intention to ECHA, a mandatory step before an application for a starting substance, composition or constituent is made to ECHA. This document aims to assist users in complying with their obligations under Directive (EU) 2020/2184 of the European Parliament and of the Council of 16 December 2020 on the quality of water intended for human consumption (recast), hereafter referred to as the ‘drinking water directive’ or ‘DWD’. However, users are reminded that the texts of the DWD (Article 11(2)(a)), Commission Delegated Regulation (EU) 2024/369 and Commission Implementing Decision (EU) 2024/367 are the only authentic legal references and that the information in this document does not constitute legal advice. Usage of the information remains under the sole responsibility of the user.
