The goal of this study is to assess the economic and environmental impact of edge computing on IoT at the global scale. This study focuses on “Professional IoT”, which corresponds to the industrial strengths and opportunities for the EU: Automotive electronics, factory automation (including industrial robotics), energy management IoT (building and city automation, smart meters, smart charging stations, heat pumps, solar inverters…), security IoT, connected health & care devices, asset trackers for logistics and finally IoT for agriculture.
