After a year of discussions and deliberations involving citizens, institutions at European, national, regional and local level, as well as civil society and social partners, the Plenary of the Conference on the Future of Europe (COFE) - where the European Committee of the Regions (CoR) and local and regional authorities (LRAs) were represented by 30 delegates - agreed on its final 49 proposals. Based on the citizens' recommendations adopted in the European and national citizens' panels, on the ideas posted in the COFE multilingual digital platform, and on the debates between all COFE plenary components in the framework of the nine thematic Working Groups and in the plenary, the proposals were presented to the Council Presidency and to the presidents of the European Parliament and the European Commission on 9 May 2022. Each proposal is structured around an objective and detailed measures (328 in total) addressing nine policy areas, thus building a huge corpus of ideas that could lead to important reforms to make the EU more democratic, transparent, fairer and closer to the people.
