Spotlight on globalisation

Globalisation has had an important effect on world economies and on people's lives, including in the European Union. Ensuring that it works for everyone is a challenge that needs to be addressed. In this context, the European Commission has just published its Reflection paper on harnessing globalisation – the second of five reflection papers announced in the White paper on the future of Europe.  Its aim is to launch a debate on how the EU and its Member States can shape globalisation in a way that anticipates the future and improves the lives of Europeans.

To provide more background information for this important discussion, the Publications Office presents a selection of recent titles on various aspects of globalisation.

Some other highlights in this month's newsletter include Civil law - an e-book from the Council of the EU focusing on European judicial cooperation, and the new edition of the ever popular Europe in 12 lessons booklet - a short and easy to read introduction to the EU.
