European Commission cookies policy
As of 1 February 2014, the European Commission’s websites should follow a new policy regarding the use of cookies in order to be in line with the ePrivacy directive.
A cookie is a small text file that a website saves on your computer or mobile device when you visit it. It enables the website to remember your actions and preferences (such as login, language and other display preferences) over a period of time.
Pursuant to the Directive, Member States shall ensure an equivalent level of protection of fundamental rights and freedoms, and in particular the right to privacy, with respect to the processing of personal data in the electronic communication sector. The use of cookies on the European Commission’s EUROPA website is allowed under certain conditions.
The Publications Office is making all the necessary efforts to be in line with the Commission’s policy, and the adaptation of its websites is in progress.
To help you comply with the policy, the Commission has developed a cookie consent kit that can be implemented on websites of European institutions and agencies. More information concerning cookies can be found in the Information Providers Guide. |
