One of the three long-term objectives of the 2014-2020 Common Agricultural Policy (CAP), defined in art. 110 of the Horizontal Regulation (EU) No 1306/2013 of 17 December 2013, is to ensure a viable food production by increasing the competitiveness of agricultural sectors and the profitability of agricultural production. Considering that the EU Regulation stipulates that the Commission ensures the measurement of the impact of all CAP instruments in relation to the policy objectives, the present evaluation is placed in this context and foresees the analysis of the contribution of the CAP measures towards the objective of viable food production.
